Your pinouts on the ECU will be a little different. You might not have an 02 sensor, EGR or catalytic converter. Do you have a 4g15 carburetted setup? or MPI fuel injection? Distributor on right side of head above transmission or front of motor. 12V motor has distributor on right side of head. |

I don't think we had Cat's at the time. Neither have I've heard of those sensors in the time we've owned the car. We are the first owners since 91'You might not have an 02 sensor, EGR or catalytic converter. Do you have a 4g15 carburetted setup? or MPI fuel injection? Distributor on right side of head above transmission or front of motor. 12V motor has distributor on right side of head. 4G15 ECI-Multi But I think that's just another word for MPI. Distributor is on the Left side when looking at it from the front, opposite of the belts. We've had it completely stock as much as possible since 91'. It's recently lost compression on Cylinder 2 most likely to old age and it was complaining about the TPS and ISC before it lost the Cylinder. Is the sensor and ISC repairable or would we have to replace them? EDIT: I could post a photo of the engine bay if you'd like. Would you have a good guess on what transmission it has? It's an 5-M/T and it would grind often when going to Reverse, so I'd like to get it overhauled aswell since everything is basically being done. Frame is C62A if that makes any difference. |

You have a model that works with those manuals. Wire colors may differ slightly because you had fewer emissions (catalytic, 02 sensor, EGR?) and so on. ISC and TPS are motor/sensors that simply bolt onto the head at the throttle body. I highly suggest getting a set of JIS screwdrivers if you are taking out old Mitsubishi or Toyota screws. Some are VERY tight and could use the use of a hammer to shock them and then the screw/bit on a ratchet assembly. http://www.vesseltools.com/hand-tools/s ... ducts.html Pictures would be great! We love seeing the differences in some of these cars from other markets. Reason I ask is acquiring replacement, surplus, or NOS may be difficult. Is it recommended to use loctite/thread sealer/anti-sieze on all bolts, nuts, and screws? |

Loctite only on chassis bolts (red - requires heat to remove without galling threads), blue for less worrisome bolts (engine mounts, etc). Most bolts come out dry and do in dry in nearly all other circumstances. Read what you see on each bolt as you take it out. If there is a form of thread locker (random color from back in 198X), then reference above, or ask us. Either manual should have what you need, but the turbo manual has the 1.6L stuff that is harder to find. If that manual is 1989, compare to the 89-92 manual and see if there are any differences to what you see with your loom coloring. Some will be different, but very similar mainly where it counts. If not, we can help. ISC tip can be cleaned - watch out for chemicals getting into the mechanical base .... TPS cannot be cleaned, and when bad, requires replacement. Both should be readily available online. Check RockAuto, Ebay ... or call Mitsubishi for a laugh at how much a new OEM unit would be. |
