Hi everyone,

I've been lurking on here for a few days and you all seem like a pretty cool little community.

I've been into DSMs for about 14 years, I'm on #7 which will be my final build a 1G AWD auto drag car that will see street time.
Build thread on a local forum: http://www.mitsustyle.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27258

In the quest to go faster, I want to strip weight out of this thing, but after talking to some friends (thanks JP) and others swapping everything into a CSM seems to be the smart thing to do.

I 100% believe in:

(I have the shirt too) But seriously anytime you talk to car guys, the lighter the car no matter power, they always seem to love it more and my DSM does feel like a pig.

So far I've gone 11.33@119 with this setup at 28psi.
Setup =
Stock longblock with L19 headstuds
Auto trans with full line pressure via TCU (color shift box to be installed)
PTE bolton 5857
FP manifold
2150s
DW300lph fuel pump
ECMLink V3

Did this today:

I'm 100% clueless about the swap, but I'm hoping to change that. I'm willing to travel anywhere in the country for the right candidate and to be honest from what I'm learning about them, I think I might want a second as a DD because AWD up here in MN would be awesome in the winter.

Thanks
Aaron

Welcome to the forum Aaron. Sounds like you'll do just fine in your endeavors based off your experience. If you find an original turbo model the swap is extremely easy, even the base models arnt bad. All info you'll ever need is here, enjoy your stay :partyman:

Just keep a look out on CL and this forum, you will find what your looking for!

Another option you may consider is doing a straight axle rear end and 4 link. I prefer the DSM independent rear for a driver, but to each their own.

Good luck

Welcome! That's a nice 1G you have there. There's a ton of info on here about the AWD swap, just search around and you'll find it. I definitely agree with doing a solid rear-end conversion to a Ford 8.8 or something if you want to build an all-out drag monster.

The swap is pretty straightforward. From what you've mentioned, you're already at a level where the swap would be easily handled. Don't forget to put your location in your profile and welcome to 61t.org!

Thanks guys, I feel like I have a lot of learning to do a bit overwhelmed actually but I have a lot going on otherwise other than cars.

I will def. take you guys up on the straight axle, the purpose of this car would be a drag monster, however I kinda want to build another to slam gears with and do track days with the evo's around here.

I'll keep scouring CL and posting up what I find here.

If it's cool I'd like to post up my build thread here and maybe get some input, my local forum is very limited with valuable input it seems just a lot of speculation and clueless comments and I feel here where people not only work on their stuff but actually go fast too would be useful.

Of course it's cool. We love build threads. We love them so much, we even have an entire section of the forum devoted to them! ;)

Well I attempted to 2 89 mirage and both sales fell through.

It doesn't matter anyway, I took my car to a good sized event here in MN and I fell back in live with my DSM.

I figured with things I want to do in life and car builds I don't have time for this now. I also learned putting in car seats sucks and the baby isn't here yet.

If you guys don't mind I'd still like to hang out.

There's a lot of us that either don't have CSM's or don't drive our CSM's but everyone sticks around. We're drawn together by our common interest, not by what we own. :partyman:
