Hey guys!

My name is Andrey and I am curious to learn more about the 4g63 swap.

I am racing a Ford Festiva (Mazda 121) with a 1.8 engine swap in 24 hours of Lemons so I can try answering any 24HoL question if you have any :)

That link has pretty much everything you need to know. 89Mirageman (Chris) makes a custom harness adapter so you don't have to cut any wires, he also does the tranny mount modifying.

That you Mechacode! That link definitely helps.

'DSM tranny' - they do not specify which tranny. Was it the same gearbox on NA and turbo-charged eclipses? Same ratios? Ideally I want this thing reliable, so I want to go with the matching parts.

Another thing I would need would be a car to start all this - looks like buying a 3rd gen Colt is harder than buying a Festiva :)

The transmission out of a 90-92 FWD Turbo DSM would be the strongest. The transmission from N/A cars will bolt on, but is weaker and has shorter gear ratios.

You're easiest bet would be a F5M33 (turbo fwd 1g dsm trans).

Can you please elaborate on this?

My concern would be availability. I kind of hope to source two (primary and spare) eclipse 2.0 gearboxes from junk yards for cheap. How much F5M33 would cost me? How many were sold in US?

I've build a couple of custom engine/trans mounts before so as long as that would bolt on and fit under the hood, I am mostly concerned about availability.

You shouldn't have a problem finding one, or even two. They are pretty common.
