I just bought this car and the previous owner said he took a bunch of the wiring apart around the trans,
and after putting it back together the ignition switch wouldnt start the car anymore.

So to sell it he has a jumper wire going to the little cylindrical plug that goes to the starter. With the key in on position and then jumpered to the positive post it fires right up just like normal.

all i have checked so far is trying to plug the connector back to the body harness but of course it didnt work.
its a black cylindrical plug with a single black/red wire. One side obviously goes to the starter and the other i assume goes into the car and up to the ignition switch? any ideas why power would not be coming down that wire?

next step would be to trace the wire i guess. Think it would go to the ign switch or ecu?

Right to the ignition switch, that wire down to the starter bendix/solenoid.

On the CSM there is a plug in right at the right front frame rail directly across from the starter if you aim back to the frame rail with a straight line through the starter.

I cleaned mine up, and I have heard of some being disconnected altogether. Check for power coming down from your ignition switch. Will be a single wire plug/black connector large flat brass looking prong inside/receiving it.

I am about to plug mine back in after cleaning up my harness and adding wires to the factory under hood fuse block.

Thank you flying eagle, thats just what i was looki g for. Now that i know the wire goes up to the ignition switch ill look right there.

i did check for power at the connector by frame rail and power was not coming down from switch.
i have been jumping it to the battery right now like the previous owner has been doing.

hopefully i can look tonight at the ign switch and report back
