i just had to buy it. saw this car browsing craigslist posted back in may, and i added it to to the craigslist sighted post for others to see. saw it thursday night again reposted. left friday morning and picked it up in portland. Im totally stoked on a new project i wasnt looking for and didnt need ha ha the dent on the sliding door is the only one. its super clean and rust free otherwise. the interior except headliner is great for the age and a nice grey/blue color. no power windows or locks, no cruise but has power mirrors, intermittent wipers, and ac. should be the six-bolt 2.4 right? built in august of 91. and only 127k miles!! hasnt been driven more than a thousand miles since 09. here is the add from craigslist: 1992 Plymouth Colt Vista AWD Handles AMAZING in the snow Clean title Starts, runs & drives 127xxx Miles Complete interior Detailed maintenance records from 1998- 2009 Owned by a 90 year old lady that died in 2012 and sat for 2+ years in Seattle. I bought the car understanding that it would be a project. Replaced old wheel studs with New lugs and nuts New alternator Definitely a project car & needs some attention to be at 100% Trans diagnosis, leaky radiator, need to wire a 'push to start' button. Priced to move this week! pics coming |

nice find, wish i would have seen it. I live in Vancouver . I have 2 awd 7 passenger expos. 92 should be 7 bolt , post a picture of the engine and i can tell you for sure, the 6 bolt 4g64 have the distributor behind the valve cover on the driver side, 7 bolt its on the passenger side , side of valve cover . |

its been about 5 months now since i bought the car and made my first post on it. its been pretty good so far. it is definitely a six bolt engine. when i got it the trans was pretty wonky. it didnt have a second gear and also no overdrive. first and third were great but it was pretty difficult to drive around town like that so sourced and put a "new" junkyard trans in a few months ago and saw the 6 bolts to verify it .. bummer thing is this new trans is better but still messed up. when putting it in drive from park it often just free revs for a bit and then finally slams into first. when its up and going it operates well, has all gears, no slips, and kickdown works too. |

here are a couple pics of the trans swap. apparently i didn't snap a pic of the flexplate on the 6 bolt crank (edit i found it) i also took a couple of shots of the rear trans mount for education purposes for everyone else. A quick note on the motor mount setup to add to the knowledge base: it an early 1992 with a six bolt 4g64 and auto awd. the front roll stop is on the engine like a 1g, rear roll stopper on trans like 2g i assume(never actually owned a 2g). Has another trans mount up on top at the passenger frame rail as well. the block does have provisions for a rear roll stop like a 1g but nothing is bolted in there old trans out old trans Ha I did find the old flexplate showing a 6bolt crank setup new trans going in here are the rear roll stop auto trans mount pics |
