I know the 92s are a almost direct bolt in 4g63 swap... how much diff are the 94s?. ive been searching for a 92 awd with no luck but found a nice cheap 94 to work on.. Steve |

92's must use 1G parts and 93+ must use 2G parts. But they both accept 4G63 just fine. |

As long as its a 2.4 awd and you plan to swap it anyway I don't see why it would matter what year it was. |

92's are very rare, the only thing that should push in that direction is if just must use a 1G tranny. |

Robert's (riceless90) old 92 AWD swapped wagon (now Adam's - DSMERwCOLT) was not quite to 1gDSM standard. The transmission contained the front roll-stop and the transmission mount, the engine contained the rear roll-stop and the timing side mount. So a 1g tranny isn't really what you want. YOu still want a 2g at a minimum, plus you have to modify the rear roll-stop on the 93+ as it is a different mount than the 2g. RVR tranny is best as it is a direct fit. |

It is possible there is a difference between the Manual and Auto tranny setups. I suppose if you could modify the mount on the front cross member you could use DSM parts. |

I can't speak for the awd's but on my 94 FWD the bottom of the chassis had the holes there and threaded for the early 92 crossmember. One of the holes at the front lined up and there was a blank hole w/o a nut welded on. I think I used a nut on the top or something, can't remember. This allowed me to make a custom front engine mount on the 7 bolt engine and use a 1g dsm trans. Hope this helps. |

so bringing this back to life.... i really dont want to put any money into this fwd van... so I have and been searching for a awd one.. all I find are 93s.. as stated above all my parts/stuff is 90/91... so with that being said.. if I did buy a 93 or 94 and put the 6 bolt motor in it.. what would be the best year trans to use with least amount of modifying? if its a 2g trans would I need the kiggly adaptor setup? or is that only to put a 6 bolt into a 2g car?.. (i know nothing about 2gs and there compatibility.) Steve |
