Thanks! Got the motor and trans separated this weekend, pulled the front case apart and installed a bse kit. While I had the pan off I also checked the crankshaft end play very close, it came out to .07 mm. That gives me some more confidence in the engines reliability. Went ahead and redid every seal on the bottom end too. I also got the valve seals and springs swapped out, still need to install the cams, 3mm lifters and timing components. I want to swap out the front clutches on the trans but I'm hesitant to open it up and unsure how to do it? I've done the rear clutches before and I have a kiggly 5 clutch pack handy but don't know if I need any other seals or what not? I would've loved to swap out to a beefier flexplate but it seems nobody offers one like the weird RVR flexplate. Hopefully I can get the rest of the engine together within the week and start on the trans. |

Nice, moving right along. From images I have seen it looks like the front clutch basket is the next thing in line after the trans pump. So I think pulling the pump is all you would have to do? I know pump alignment on reassembly is critical. I bought a 6bolt kiggly flexplate for my rvr trans. I never looked into.....its all sitting for a future swap, but I'll go out and look how it all mates up and let you know. Hopefully it works or I will have a kiggly plate up for sale lol. |

on page 3 those books u bought.. i just bought a set off ebay for 19.90... thought it was just those 2 books.. got them today and there was 6 books total in the box lol.. gonna be a huge help with my swap. Steve |

I haven't updated this in awhile but I've gotten it running fantastic. There are no bugs and the 3g shifter install went smooth, I also managed to update Thom's shifter write up to work with the newer Forced Four SMART series shift boxes. It is actually simpler to wire up this way now, does anyone have a way to host the file on here? |

Contact Natas and see what he says. A bunch of people use Google Drive and such, but I'm sure it would be no issue to use our internal system via post attachments. See what Nate says.

I am using a RVR Turbo tcu and SMART 100 shift box in conjunction. The write up explains the process of switching between the two with the shifter. The van has 2G ECMlink v3, speed density set up, FIC hi z 1000's, Walbro 450, aeromotive FPR, Kinetic Race FMIC, FP race manifold, Ebay tdo5h 20g, electronic boost control, BC 272's, BC valve springs, standard ARP's. It is on 20'ish psi and runs great on 93 pump, need to get it on e85 and turn the modest timing up. I've run 7.7 at 89 mph in the 1/8th mile so far and that was on a E316g.

Well since I stretched a rod bolt and hung a rod out through my rvr swap I put in last year I am wanting to put a 6 bolt in now but don't think it work. As some of you may know the rvr trans is basically a 1g trans stuffed inside a 2g case, kind of. The flex plate on the rvr is pretty much completely flat and the 6 bolt flex plate pushes the converter toward the pump. I have a kiggly 6 bolt into a 2g trans kit I am going to try and use the flexplate. I am just worried it will push the pump in too far and damage something in the process, another problem that is surely to arise is the fact that the starter (even though my jdm one got destroyed by flying rod debris) will probably be in the wrong position to engage the ring gear too. Looks like I will be doing a ton of measuring with the converter still in and on the broken engine and comparing it to a couple different variations. I have a complete 1g auto set up I pulled out of a part out also that I can get a few reference measurements to compare with. Hopefully this can be worked out if not the fact that the rvr flexplate is flat seems like it can be custom made out of something stronger and in a 6 bolt orientation very easily. I need to know if it's at all possible before I buy a 1300 dollar Precision converter.  Any input or past experiences with this problem is greatly appreciated! |

So I've come up with a 3/16" spacer to place the converter exactly back into the stock location with the kiggly flexplate. Kiggly recommends a 16mm flexplate bolt with their flexplate and add in my 3/16 or 4.7625 mm and that equates to 20.76 mm they need to be. I've been doing some digging and have found some ARP m10x1.5 20mm (ARP 672-1001) but I believe even after grinding the heads down enough to clear there still won't be enough to tighten them down. Some even more looking and I found ARP 254-2901 is m10x1.00 .800" or 20.32mm, now that's darn close to perfect in length so I am in the process of seeing if Precision can do my converter thread holes in the m10x1.00. These are actual flexplate bolts for modular Ford V8's and will need no grinding for them to clear and they come in a pack of eight! |
