I haven't yet seen this topic discussed before. Factory seats are relatively light (38lbs) and fairly comfortable, but they offer ZERO lumbar support :(. As I improved van's handling, I found that I was fighting to keep myself in the seat (instead of concentrating on driving).

My goal is to find comfortable seats with better lateral support, which are lighter :)

This isn't going to be easy :). I already established that Colt/Mirage seats do not fit. Has anyone tried DSM seats yet? Naturally, stock DSM seats are too heavy, but I wonder if DSM brackets work?

Edit: I found old, lap belts still hidden in the bottom of the original seats!!! Removing them drop the weight down to 36.3lbs per side. This makes the task of finding lighter seats even more difficult...

If you are handy with a welder or know someone that is just do what I did on my summit coupe. Browse the local J/Y and find a seat that you like. Cut the ears off so that the bottom is smooth, take apart your stock rails and modify them, then tack weld the new ones on. Remove them and fully weld them up. It's a long process but well worth it. I highly doubt you'll find anything that you like that is a bolt in deal.

I have adapted several different seats in to my cars before. I am very capable of doing it. But I tend to overdo things... Turn them into much bigger projects than they have to be :(.

I am hopping there is a bolt-on solution :)

Yeah I know what you mean. It took me several hours to cut and grind my original rails to get them how I wanted them. I could have just tossed something together that "would work" in less time I'm sure.

I hope you come across something.

Try looking for something out of a Mazda MPV or 5 wagon/van. They have a similar height and are most likely a better seat

What did you do about the seat belt guide that is on the buckle next to the driveshaft tunnel?

I haven't bothered with my belts yet. Might just pull some from a Civic and see if they'll work. The auto belt on the passengers side is broken anyway.

My passenger side doesn't work either :(

I did some cutting and drilling on the stock bracket that is on the belt last night and might be able to get them to work.
Ill post up how it goes when I get time to finish it up.

So, one downunder guy, from 4Gtuner, reported that he is using RVR RECAROS in his EVO3 without any modifications, that suggests that EVO3 brackets should work to adapt racing seats in our vans.
