Hello guys! I just got a free tow home (courtesy of our local AAA)! My transmission has a few holes in it.....Does anyone know if a non-turbo fwd DSM trans will work in this thing? Or if someone has one cheap for sale? I need advice, guys! Let me know what you got! Need this thing soon!

Yes, my car is a Mitsubishi Expo fwd. 4 door, 4g64, 1992. 5 speed.

Pretty sure those use the F5M31 which have the larger flywheel. A 1g dsm na trans will work but you'll have to swap over the starter plate & the flywheel from the dsm. Also the shift levers are slightly different. One bolts on so you can swap it over from the busted trans but you'll have to get creative on the other one.

Hit up Ben4g63t on here. He's up your way somewhere and he does the same thing I do, hits up the local yards and pulls parts for extra money. I can get you a na 1g dsm trans for around $150 but shipping will be another $100 I'm sure. You could meet up with him in person and save on shipping.

I believe some Galants also came with the F5M31 but they are extremely rare. You could swap in a 1g dsm turbo trans as well.

89Mirageman....do the shift cables, flywheel and starter plate have to be changed in order to use a turbo trans? Thanks for all the help!!

The shiff levers will still need to be modded but I'm 99% sure the F5M31 uses the larger stepped turbo style flywheel.
