Post subject:  Keyless entry

So I was browsing through my factory service manual a few weeks ago and saw that some of these things were equipped with keyless entry from the factory. On the 3 door version the computer is behind the plastic on the D/S quarter and the P/S quarter on the long wheelbase versions. I ran out and popped the plastic off and realized my wagon was indeed equipped for keyless entry even though it may not have actually came on it from the factory. The manual showed a two button remote that looked like a 2g dsm remote. So I ordered a new one on ebay for $43 shipped and it came in today. To my surprise they sent me the three button one which has an extra button for the trunk. I programmed it and it actually works. The only thing is for some reason even though I hit the unlock button more than once and you can hear it make a noise only the D/S door actually unlocks. This really isn't a big deal since the unlock button is right on the dash as soon as you get in but I sent them an email asking them to swap this thing out for the one I ordered just to see if it makes a difference. Just thought I'd share this with the other wagon owners on the site. If yours has power door locks take a peek and see if it has the computer.

What do I look for? I assume the 92 Red Summit doesn't have this option as it is roll up windows etc. But I don't know about my 93.....so what do I look for?

Once you pop the interior panel off there will be a box with a tiny switch on it.

Could you post a pic....it would be nice for a historical purpose and make it easier to know exactly what is looks like.

Sorry my wagon is long gone. Do you have a FSM? It's covered in there.
