I've been looking for one of these for t least a year now, one finally popped up and i snagged it. 93 Plymouth colt vista awd 2.4 w5m33 I got a really good deal on it cause the trans is shot. Still works fine but it has a whining sound like its low on oil. I think it was run low on tranny oil and the bearings, or one of them is shot. I checked the oil level in the trans and t case and they are fine. I think ill just drive it till the tranny ceases up completely then in goes the 4g63t. I am going to have a lot of fun planning this build. Should i go 2.4 or 2 liter? What turbo should i use 14b? 16g? Bigger? I want this thing to be reliable, so i should probably just run a stock setup. But i also want to track this thing cause its going to blow some minds.

4g63t for a more reliable parts source. 4g64's are rare, and 4g63t 2.3 hybrids are way overpriced. For once I can say take the budget build with the 4g63t! If you want a reliable car, sell it;then buy a honda, subaru or toyota...and don't mod it. 16g for sure. Hope you mean the drag strip as "tracking", as the high center of gravity of this thing will make it a slug around turns. Beautiful specimen though!

Yeah i have 2 good running high mileage 90 4g63ts ready to go. I'll likely just use one of those. The reason i was thinking 4g64 hybrid is that this van has a really strong 4g64 in it and its all too tempting to use it, Just slap a dohc head on it. But i suppose the compression ratio would be way too high without custom pistons, and if a complete rebuild would be required than yeah i would rather just use up what i got. I'll definately hang onto the 4g64 though for a future build.

Drove it to work today. On the way home there is a weight scale. Its 3150 lbs. It gets 25 mpg us or 32 can gal or 9litres per 100 kms Pretty good about the same as a turbo awd dsm.

I would like to see this thing ito the mid 13's or better. That would be fast enough to take down 98 percent of all the street cars at my local track. I dont really want to get too stupid with it or it will get too expensive. I'll probably just raid my old parts bin i already have 560s maft walbro190. Just need to buy a 16g. I would like to use a keydiver chip this time, then fine tune with maft. I dont want to spend much time tuning this. My colt is a pita with the aem ems. Way too much to play with.

My wife has not ridden in it. She hates it. She will probably never ride in it. But she isnt stupid she knows dam well its a colt therefore it will be gettig turboed out to shit and lots of money will be wasted on it.

That's awesome. I've always thought those wagons were funky neat; I'd like to pick up one in the future someday for a winter DD 8) Nice score.

What would the CR be with a 2 liter head on the 2.4 liter engine? Could you go with a thicker copper head gasket to bump it down?

something like 13:1

a set of wisecos would be all it takes to dohc turbo that thing...

it probably has a 7 bolt. that will be a plenty stout bottom end for up to 500 well tuned hp. the rods will be a weak link, especially if you start revvin it over 7-7.5k. rod bolts help. but standard bore pistons and rods can be done in car...

That is what I am effin talkin about! I have rebuilt an engine in-car. It is not that bad.

You could probably rock out the NA 13:1 CR with meth injection and make around 200 or more whp...

I've owned a few of these things and they are a blast to drive, you can haul damn near anything in them too.

Not sure if you are aware or not but a turbo exhaust manifold will bolt right onto the 16v SOHC head so it would be super easy to turbo this thing just like it sits.

GVR4 wheels look awesome on them too. I will see if I can dig up pics of my old blue one with the 91 wagon wheels on it.
