You still running the open diff? Anybody figure out how to get LSD in there yet? Probably not necessary anyways is it. I know mine would cut 1.9 60 no problems with crappy street tires

There are two diff options. You either have 25 spline axles or 27 spline axles. You need either the smaller bearing (w/ball bearing AWD type diff bearings) setup from Quaife, or the large bearing setup (w/tapered bearings) also from Quaife. Lots of coin to buy that unit though. Or, put in a KAAZ or a Rip Grip (LSD from RTMRacing fits your stock open diff). Check Quaifes website if you are interested.

Wait, do you want a front LSD ?? That is what I was referring to. Rear is different.

I have only upgraded the center diff VC (used one from a DSM, which is aproximately 50% thicker).

I think that you can upgrade the rear diff using 2G DSM pumpkin, but axles are tricky. You would need an LSD axles/stubbies from JDM van or make some custom axles using DSM parts. I taked to DSM Graveyard about it at the last Shootout and he was willing to work something out for us.

I never had any type of front LSD on any of my AWD DSMs, ever.

So far, I have been able to do low to mid 1.6s on this set up, using sticky radial tires (meant for autox and roadracing).

I had another fun day at the oval track! This time, I tried higher tire pressure in the rear, to counter the untersteer. That helped, I wish I would have done it sooner!

In the last race, the Camaro had me stage way up in the marbles… that really messed up my launch. I should have forced him to stage lower. Oh well, I was happy with the 3rd place! First time that was done in a minivan :).

Time to get the Summit out of storage! Lets get this forum going again!

Biggest change from last year is the FP Red turbo. I am also going to drop some weight, by finally installing my “light brakes” and a Momo race seat. That should shed about 35lbs. Plus, I still have the rear bumper.

First time with the FP Red yielded 11.74@118, both ET and trap speed PBs. But there is a LOT more potential left in this setup!

I got a chance to dyno my Summit last Friday. I got there with 390hp and eventually got up to 420hp. Both numbers are decent, but it can do BETTER!

I am still loosing fuel pressure above 7k rpm! My next step is to get Aeromotive 340 pump. And see what happens…

That's awesome Leon! It's good to see tat the old beast is still up and running. It's also good to see that you're still into this old van after all of these years. Most guys would've passed it on or junked it by now, but it's a refreshing change to see that you still love the old girl and haven't given up on her. She's ran some amazing times. Good luck in the future with her! I know that you don't need it, but I will always root for the underdog. Now it's time for me to build something and actually make it to the Shootout for once...

Thanks!

I got my first DSM in '91, so I tend to stick to things ;). And this van has been the MOST enjoyable car I ever had!

Every time I watch a video of you running at the track I crack a huge smile :D Inspiration at its finest.

Well I finally got the 95 DSM 2g harness and eprom ecu swap done along with ecmlink on my 96 Eagle Summit awd 5 spd 4G64 turbo project. To my surprise ecmlink connected and everything worked on first start up. I've never used ecmlink, so its a bit of learning curve going on but not to difficult. Me and the wife have been tuning it over the last 2 weekends till my Old school FP Green finally died on me, compressor wheel got ate up along with the compressor housing scratched up. Luckily the TD06H wheel didn't get bent (checked via dial indicator), so I'm going to start off with a TD06H-20g in a TD06 compressor housing and go from there. Running wise, idle and cruise are great so far but haven't had a chance for any real wot pulls before the turbo died.
Looking forward to finally getting this thing on the road and track.

I am glad I can provide inspiration! :D

I finally installed the Momo seat:

I kept the original sliders so it made heavy (about the same weight as the factory seat). But I am doing this for handling racing, as stock seat has ZERO lateral support!
