Guys, check out the latest issue of D-Sport magazine! They have great shootout coverage along with two action shots of my van (one autoxing and one drag racing). You will not see that in a performance magazine every day ;)

Another nice video of the van from the shootout (thanks to Chad!)

Today, I attempted to get a new inspection sticker and got rejected for the front side lights not working. It must have been this way for years!

Can anyone confirm to me what do those lights do? Do they just light up as side markers or are they also a turn signals?

Other than fixing this annoyance, I am putting FP Green in the van this weekend :supz:

Pretty sure they have two bulbs so I think they are parking lights and turn signals. Not positive though.

Not sure if you were still in the market for rear discs but my old ones are available. I sold the wagon locally on CL and the guy totaled it a few months later. Saw it in the junkyard Monday when I went.

I just might be ;) How much are you looking for them?

Also, how is the front PS fender on your old car?

Had another amazing shootout experience! But first for some problems:

- Discovered that one of the rear shocks is blown. Too late to do anything about it at the shootout… That that made my already soft rear end even softer. Not very good for autoxing.
- Someone noticed a previously crack on my intake coming back. Fortunately, Brian and Brett were able to fix it! Thanks guys!
- I kept suffering from dropping fuel pressure. Before leaving for the shootout, I replaced the fuel filter and installed fuel pressure gauge that can be logged with DSM Link. At Ecolodge, I rewired the fuel pump. But it still had problems :(. I then bought and installed another 255HP pump from Buschur, still the same problem… At 25psi of boost, fuel pressure drops from 67psi to 61psi, between 5k-8k RPM. I am beginning to think that van fuel supply lines might be smaller than DSM line. Time to take some measurements.

Van understeered worse than usual at the Autox course, it kept getting faster, but not fast enough to get into the trophies (I was in 4th place overall).

At the drag strip, I first ran a couple of 12.0’s @ 116mph (best trap speed for the van). But then, I pulled off 11.80@115 (major knock, that slowed me down on the top end)

On my next pass, I thought I popped off my intercooler pipe off, but turns it my turbo SIEZED so suddenly, it felt like a blown I/C pipe. My racing was over for the day and I drove it home (all 700 miles) in NT mode! FYI: mileage to Ohio with boost, was consistent 22mpg, mileage back to Boston, without boost was 26.7mpg. Same car, same weight, same tune, same speed ;)

Make sure to check out the motor after that turbo failure. We had a car come into the shop that had a turbo failure almost exactly like yours on a FP 20g variant and it costed him his entire motor. Tiny pieces of the turbine wheel got back into cylinder 2,3,4 and caused grooves in the walls as well as having some melt into the head. The only thing that made us tear the motor apart was a leakdown test showing a little under 40% leak down in #3, it ran just fine. Hopefully you dodged a bullet though.

It is very rare for a turbo to damage the engine (other than with too much boost ;)). My turbo is totally intact, just very stuck :)

I have been warned about Summit rear end mustache bar, well they were right:

I now need to find new one. Does anyone have a lead on a Summit at a junk yard.

I also need to replace the bushings. I wonder if the 1g bushing will work here?

O trust me, I know. It took us 3 days to admit that the turbo was the only thing that could have caused the motor damage. The turbo didn't stay seized on this car though unfortunately. Good to hear yours stayed together.
