For a budget suspension upgrade that will help the car feel a little tighter and a little more responsive for a reasonable cost, locate the following parts:
- KYB GR-2 Shocks for a 1G AWD. (Available at
http://www.diamondstarspecialties.com)
- Stock 1G AWD Springs (
http://www.dsmtrader.com)
For the front springs/shocks, cut 2 coils off of the AWD springs, then install onto the car. Check and make sure the car is level.
For the rear suspension, Remove the spacer/bushing from your bottom mount off the Mirage strut. Press this in the DSM AWD rear strut. Swap over the upper spring perch. Do not cut the rear springs at all. Install onto car. If you can't get the bushings out of your shocks or into the AWD shocks, don't worry, there are custom aluminum bushings available at
http://www.diamondstarspecialties.com .
This will provide a 2" drop all around, and considerably better handling.
You can use the stock AWD shocks if you like, but I would advise against that, since they probably need to be replaced anyway.
